Our web server is down

Our web server can’t take it anymore.  It’s about 10 years old and we’ve been using it for 5.  The past week has been very trying as it’s been under attack from literally thousands of bots from all over the world.  Our daily traffic with good bots is roughly 10,000 visitors a day.   The past couple of days with bad bots thrown into the mix is over 150,000.  We’ve been using CloudFlare’s free plan to help mitigate the attacks, but our server hasn’t been able to respond fast enough to requests and often resulted in people seeing an error 522 screen.   It’s been difficult to post reviews or even read them under these circumstances.

Our server is running Linux and you can easily measure its load level.  Ideally, this should be under 1.  When I woke up this morning, it was at 260.  At that level, even logging into it remotely is a challenge.  To put it bluntly, the website will be down until we get the server replaced or the bots to stop attacking it.

We’ve been trying to raise funds to upgrade the server for a couple of months without much of a response.  In fact, we’re down a couple of Patreon supporters.  There are many ways to support Christ Centered Gamer.  Prayer is free.  Another good way to support us is through Amazon Smile.  Monthly donations through Paypal, Patreon are also appreciated.  We recently set up Subscribe-Star and Ko-Fi which nobody has utilized yet (you can be the first!).

I want to say thank you to those who currently support us. It’s much appreciated.  If anyone has thought about supporting this 501 C3 tax deductible ministry, now would be an excellent time!   Thank you everyone for reading this and for your thoughts, prayers, and support.
